I really enjoyed reading +James Vandermaat 's post about bubbl.us and squid earlier this week and although I am still unsure of how squid works, I decided to attempt James' idea in my classroom. I decided to use it as an opportunity to collect some science curriculum evidence. So the students set about creating questions and answers for different aspects of their planet. The depth of their thought and understanding was evident with each new level of bubbles.
We did have some difficulty with connecting to bubbl.us because some of the students were using iPads and bubbl.us requires flash. Those students used text2mindmap.com instead which unfortunately is not as student friendly but they were able to get there in the end.
Students also began to look at the national dances for their chosen countries which I collated onto a blendspace. I am looking forward to seeing the students creating their national dances a part of their synthesis activities. These dances require them to combine elements from their 5 chosen countries and are very entertaining to watch.
